I had a collection of old brain teasers pasted into a book — puzzles I'd collected over the years. I wanted to retype and rebuild the entire book digitally, but kept putting it off because of how long it would take to manually transcribe every page while keeping the layout intact.
That frustration became the spark for DocMorphix. Instead of spending hours retyping, I built a tool that could do it in minutes — not just extracting text, but actually understanding and reconstructing the full document layout with tables, figures, and proper reading order.
What started as a personal project has grown into a full product, powered by AI and built on Google Cloud infrastructure. I'm a solo developer, and every line of code — from the AI pipeline to the web interface — has been crafted with care to solve this one problem really well.
The Problem
Retyping content from physical documents into digital format is tedious, time-consuming, and error-prone. Traditional OCR tools only extract raw text — losing tables, figures, diagrams, and the overall document structure.
The Vision
Build an intelligent tool that doesn't just read text — it understands document layout. One that can reconstruct tables, preserve figures, and maintain reading order, outputting a fully editable Word document.
